Research published within the Journal of the American College of Nutrition shows that people can eat potatoes and still lose weight.

"Some individuals have 3 Day Fit questioned the function of potatoes in a weight reduction regimen because of the vegetable's designation like a high index list (GI)

food, lead investigator Dr. Britt Burton-Freeman said in a release. "However, the results of this study confirm what health professionals and health

professionals have said for a long time: it's not about eliminating a particular food or recommended food groups, rather, it is reducing calories that

count," said Burton-Freeman.

Ninety overweight women and men were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 groups: (1) reduced calorie/high GI, (2) reduced calorie/low GI, (3) control group without

any calorie or GI restrictions. All three groups were provided potatoes, healthful recipes and directions to consume five to seven areas of potatoes each

week.

After the 12-week study period, they found that all three groups had dropped a few pounds there wasn't any significant difference in weight reduction between

the groups.

The release said one medium-size (5.3-ounce) skin-on potato contains just 110 calories per serving, boasts more potassium (620 g) than a banana, provides

nearly half the daily worth 7 Days Herbal Slim of ascorbic acid (45 percent), and possesses no fat, sodium or cholesterol.

The study was funded through the United States Potato Board.
